Five rules, one field
Kollane is our outdoor field. Nobody runs it for us, so these five rules do.
01
Don’t be an asshole
Help each other.
02
Know your channel
Before the battery goes in.
03
Somebody lost something? Go help
More eyes, faster.
04
Take your garbage with you
Leave it cleaner.
05
Don’t be an asshole
Yes, again.
first and last
are the same.
On purpose.

Rule 01: Don’t be an asshole
Nobody knows everything, and this hobby is hard. Nobody here flies alone.
?
1
Lend and share
Lend a tool. Look at someone’s OSD. Share what you know.
2
Sit down with them
Someone fighting a setting? Sit down and work it out together.
3
Someone looks lost? Go over
New at the field? Say hi. And when you’re stuck, ask.

Rule 02: Know your channel
Kollane has its own channel plan: 8 pilots at once, picked for the least interference.

Uneven on purpose. Evenly spaced channels mix into ghost signals on other channels (IMD). Don’t change the list.
Another field, another plan. Flying somewhere new? Ask the local marshal before you plug in.

Power on means you’re on the air
Know, confirm and own your channel before the battery goes in. Not after.
pit mode: about 1 m
1
Battery in = transmitting
A VTX sends as soon as it has power. Checking your channel by plugging in is the mistake.
2
Pit mode won’t save the pits
About 0.1 mW reaches about a metre. It protects pilots in the air, not the one next to you.
3
The stronger signal wins
No warning. The weaker feed is gone instantly, often at full speed.
DJI: the goggles transmit too. DJI pilots stand at least 5 m from everyone.

Changing channel at the field
Need another channel? Never while anyone is flying. Four steps:
hold?
ok!
R2
clear!
1
Everyone lands
Wait until every drone is down and disarmed.
2
Ask for a hold
Call it out. Wait until the field says ok.
3
Change and check
Change it, confirm it in the OSD, then power down.
4
Call “clear!”
Now the others can fly again.
From the radio? ELRS VTX Admin and TBS Agent change the channel while disarmed. Same courtesy: hold first. And there’s no “quick hover” exception.

Rule 03: Somebody lost something? Go help
A drone in the long grass, a battery, a radio strap. More eyes find it faster.
there it is!
You didn’t see it fall? Help anyway
Someone walking the edge of the field, looking down? Walk with them. A long search with friends is a much better day than a long search alone.

Rule 04: Take your garbage with you
Leave the field cleaner than you found it. There is no janitor at Kollane.
Zip ties, prop bits, dead batteries, snapped antennas, wrappers, bottles, foam, tape, lost screws.
Bring a small bag
Pick up other people’s too. Rubbish washes into the stream and hurts animals.

Rule 05: Don’t be an asshole
The first rule, once more. It’s the one that makes the other four work.
hey, R2 is taken
sorry!
1
Say it, kindly
Someone breaks a rule? Tell them, quietly and kindly. Don’t just stay silent.
2
Own it
Made a mistake? Say sorry. Lost a race? Don’t be a bad sport. Pick up after others too.
3
Never drunk or tipsy
Spinning props and people share this field. No drinking at Kollane.
Free to use in your own trainings. Just tell people where you got it.

Remember
Own your channel. Look after each other.
1
Help each other: lend, share, ask, go over to the new pilot.
2
Fly on the Kollane plan. Know your channel before the battery goes in.
3
Never check by plugging in. Pit mode doesn’t protect the pits.
4
Changing channel: everyone lands, hold, change and check, “clear!”.
5
Somebody lost something? Go help. Take your garbage, and some extra.
6
Say it kindly, own your mistakes, never fly drunk or tipsy.
Free to use in your own trainings. Just tell people where you got it.
